"A new twist on the general store...Almanac is a newly launched retail store... with a mix of stylish, fashionable goods in a wide range of price points."
"...as customers walk through the two tall wooden doors, they are greeted with mellow music, soft lighting, the fragrant aroma of a lit candle, and an eclectic mix of items for all ages...In the 1800s, residents would have shopped at Laubachs Central General Store. A framed photograph of the building has an inscription that provides a history of the building. The centuries-old-building, which was once the home of the Springtown Times Newspaper, was also a cigar store and a grocery store... longtime residents recall shopping for groceries at the store as recently as the 1950s... Arranged on shelves as the items would appear in a home are serving dishes such as signed-by-the-artisan Talavera plates front he Pueblo area that are decorative and yet highly functional. From Mexico, there are colorful ornaments displayed by hanging from a tree branch, and a burnished terra cotta dinnerware made by the (Mexican) Indians."
"Like general-store owners of yesteryear, Norris likes to be hands-on with hand-made goods... He stores the spirit of a general store in a wooden refridgerator that holds jars of jam ... and in optic apothecary jars which resemble small glass hat boxes. The atmosphere of a SoHo emporium can be found in a traveling lantern with three candles in narrow glass globes... Almanac is a shrine to childhood, too. Norris sells balsa gliders he flew and Miesse candies he ate as a kid. He sells new versions of old Fisher-Price toys... "
